Thank you to everyone who has engaged with our conversation on “Are Malagasy People Black?” thus far. We knew that starting the conversation was a critical step to understanding our entire Malagasy identity.
In this article, we will present informational resources on the definitions of race, ethnicity, anti-Blackness, colorism, and internalized racism in order to equip ourselves with the latest understandings concerning racism and social issues that afflict our world.
We need everyone to understand that because of how racist people have treated Black people, that it has made Black people internalize anti-Blackness and really impacts our state of mind! Browse below to read our definitions as compiled by the MadaLiving team and special thanks to @ogorchukwuu for her resources on helping us to understand these terms!
