Welcome back for part two of the conversation on “Are Malagasy People Black?”. We know that the topic and discussion of race can be nuanced and differs around the world. Being an organization that is based between the US and Madagascar, people like to joke that the US is obsessed with talking about race and identity politics. Damn right we deservedly are.
Madagascar has our fair share of racism, colorism, internalized-racism, issues and trauma that have not fully been addressed post-colonialism. We can begin by having hard conversations first to understand ourselves in order to unite as Malagasy people.
